Ligonier Concrete and Lime Construction Company

Description of Work:
Summer employment is key to getting through the expenses of college. To cover these expenses, I have worked at Ligonier Stone and Lime Concrete Company continually since my graduation. Upon being given the opportunity to join ABB, I left Ligonier Stone, but continued to work weekends at Ligonier Construction Company under the same manager. This opened me to numerous fantastic experiences, allowing me to grow my network and skill set.
Starting out in the beginning was tough; having no experience on heavy machinery meant that I was limited to strictly manual labor and grounds-keeping, operating weed whackers, mowers, and tractors. As time progressed and I was able to prove my ability in a variety of environments and began training on Skid and Track Loaders and Excavators. Eventually this allowed me to occasionally join the more experienced workers on job sites performing finishing work such as leveling ground and seeding with hydro seeders and straw blowers. This process continued, I was given the opportunity to work with paving, concrete, and excavation crews on numerous occasions.
Again, after joining ABB for two summers I left my position at Ligonier Stone and joined Ligonier Construction as a temporary worker, where I remained working through college. During these times my skills were pushed even further than ever before. Due to the limitations of working weekends and after-hours, I was assigned numerous odd jobs from repairing pipelines, clearing snow from streets after storms, installing fireplaces and fences, building and felting a pool table, maintaining a farm, and many more. Though these are less physically demanding than the previous jobs in some instances, they were all much more taxing from an experience perspective. Not knowing many of these trades, I was allowed to learn and master them, opening up many new doorways for my future. These experiences really helped mold me as an individual and gave a new perspective on life and its challenges.
The gallery at the bottom of the page shows only a handful of the experiences I have under my belt, but it does a very good job of offering insight into the variety!
